Carr & Westley on Stage and Screen
At Carr & Westley, we have always taken pride in our British-made heritage, but there is something truly special about seeing our designs move from the quiet of our Kent studio to the bright lights of the stage and screen. Over the years, our garments have appeared in ITV productions (including Coronation Street), Matilda, Wicked, Sky, Netflix and most recently in a new production by the English National Opera.
Every garment we create begins as an idea in our studio. Fabrics are carefully selected for their feel and movement, and every detail is thoughtfully considered. We supplied seven bespoke dresses for the opera, featuring one of our signature designs, it was thrilling to see the pieces become part of a living, breathing production. Watching the dresses come to life as performers move across the stage and interacted with the set reminded us of the connection between craftsmanship and storytelling.
There is a unique magic in seeing our work on stage. The dresses capture light, complement the story, and add a subtle presence that enhances the performance without ever drawing attention away from it. For our team, knowing that our British-made garments are helping bring these stories to audiences is both humbling and inspiring.
From the quiet focus of our Kent studio to the excitement and energy of the nation’s favourite stages and screens, Carr & Westley remains committed to creating garments that are beautiful, functional and made to be seen. It is a privilege to play a small part in the moments that captivate and move audiences across the country.
